J'ai fait mes études au collège du St. Esprit ou j'ai choisi le dessin comme sujet principal pour mes examens de fin de cycle. Mes résultats m'ont permis de poursuivre des études de graphisme à Durban, en Afrique du Sud. Je suis diplômé en graphisme avec une spécialisation dans l'illustration après des études de 3 ans.
En 1985, je commence à peindre à l'huile, pour mon plaisir, encouragé par un peintre mauricien nommé France Staub qui m'emmène peindre avec lui en compagnie d'autres peintre mauriciens, Roger Charoux, Yves David et Serge Constantin. Grâce à France, j'apprends le bonheur de peindre sur place, dans la nature et c'est une chose qui ne me quittera jamais.
Je retourne à Maurice après mes études en 1992 et je commence à peindre de plus en plus souvent, à l'aquarelle et à l'huile et c'est pendant cette période que je découvre les tableaux d'un peintre français établi à Maurice, Maurice Menardeau. Je suis enthousiasmé par ses peintures et je passe des heures à regarder en détail ses touches, ses choix de couleurs, ses sujets, sa composition. Mes peintures « réalistes » sont largement influencées par lui. Il avait une capacité à peindre la lumière qui était incroyable. Jusqu'a aujourd'hui j'essaie de suivre ses « conseils » silencieux.
En 1996, je prépare ma première exposition de peinture, à la galerie Max Boullé à Rose-Hill et j'expose 35 tableaux à l'huile et de grandes aquarelles et pastels. L'exposition se passe très bien et je suis très encouragé par les critiques et les appréciations.
Après je fais une exposition en 1998, 2000, 2002 et 2006, à Port-Louis (dans l'ordre) au siège de la Mauritius Union, à l'Hotel de ville de Curepipe, à Grand Baie et au Caudan Waterfront. En tout, j'ai fait 5 expositions en solo.
Depuis, 1996, mes styles ont évolué et j'ai commencé à être influencés par les peintres comme Van Gogh, Sisley, Michael Adams et ces influences ont aidés à me faire créer de nouveaux styles. Je suis aussi chanceux de pouvoir faire un style qui s'appelle le Rub Away qui est une technique d'illustration américaine.
L'avenir est certainement rempli de découvertes merveilleuses et je suis très impatient de découvrir de nouvelles passions.
I studied at the St. Esprit college where I chose art as a major subject for my Higher School Certificate. My results encouraged me in pursuing my studies in South Africa where I learnt to become a Graphic Designer. After 3 years, I graduated in graphics with a specialisation in illustrations.
In 1985, I started oil paintings, just for fun, with the help of a mauritian painter named France Staub. I went painting with him accompanied by other mauritian painters, Roger Charoux, Yves David and Serge Constantin. Thanks to France Staub, I experienced the beauty of painting on site, surrounded by nature and its something that I will cherish for ever.
I came back from my studies in 1992 and really get into oil paintings and watercolors. During this time I came in contact with the paintings of Maurice Menardeau, a famous french painter living in Mauritius. I fell in love with his paintings and I used to spend hours watching them. His delicate brush strokes, his unique choice of coulors, his subject matters and his classic compositions. My realistic paintings are largely influenced by him. He had an incredible talent to reproduce light on canvas. Still now I try to follow his "silent tips"
In 1996, I exhibit my paintings for the first time at the Max Boullé Gallery in Rose-Hill. The exhibition consists of 35 paintings, mainly oils, pastels and watercolors. I am encouraged by the critics and the exhibition went well.
After that, I did 4 exhibitions. In 1998 at the Mauritius Union head office, in 2000 at the city hall of Curepipe, in 2002 in the Coin de mire Gallery in Grand Bay and in 2006 in the Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis.
Since 1996, my painting styles have evolved, I have been influenced by painters such as Van Gogh, Sisley and Michael Adams. I have been also working on a style called the Rub away, an American illustration technique.
The future is certainly full of wonderful discoveries and I am very impatient to discover new passions.
